Film Openings.

Research: Look on youtube to find a film opening that you like and that uses most of the conventions. Post the clip and analyse how it follows the conventions of film openings.

Footloose:

 

The opening of the 1984 film 'Footloose' follows the opening of a film convention. It opens with a very upbeat soundtrack, this sets the atmosphere that it is a musical, and the beat attracts the audience because it is synchronous with what were watching; a close up of peoples feet moving. It tells you the production company; paramount pictures. It tells you the director; Herbeat Ross, it also tells you who cast the roles, the costume designer, who the music was supervised by, who choreographed the dances, who the production designer was and who the film was edited by. This opening sequence aslo follows the conventions of film openings becasue it tells you the name of the film and the names of the main actors, for example 'Kevin Bacon'. It also shows you the location of the film using a wide shot at the end of the opening credits.
